Moving content to the top

Oh my god. I’m so pathetic… Dive into Accessibility free book by Mark Pilgrim was published in 2002, and I’ve read this afternoon. Well… I’m 2 years late, but at least, I’ve read it! Excellent book.

It helped me understanding some basic accessibility features, and especially one, “Presenting your main content first”. I knew that my content wasn’t well presented. The menu, the infos, the style selector, the buttons, the links and the daily picks. After below all that stuff, the main content! I viewed my site with a non CSS compliant browser (or used the No CSS function of my site) and I understood how it could be frustrating for a person using a text browser to scroll down the first third of a page to get to what he/she wants.

So I changed that. I moved the main content (the blog) above the infos. Just below the menu. Now, if you disable CSS, you’ll see the menu, and directly below, the main content.

The change is not noticeable on modern web browsers since it doesn’t change anything of the presentation. But if you look at the source, there is the difference.

New alternate style, Fizzy.

It’s done, it took me less than one whole day (read: 4 hours) to rebuild the old fizzy CSS style. To switch to the new style, you just have to click on the button in the sidebar.

I hope you enjoy that new look… hmm… well… the new old look!

Surprise… Fizzy?

I thought I won’t tell you before it’s done, but I can’t resist! Remember the old fizzy style? The black & white one? I had the idea of making an alternate style for ifiz using the same graphics.

Firstly, I have to make all site 100% CSS. Which is not actually the case. There are still some <img> tags that won’t fit with the style. So I have to reference the images with CSS.

Secondly, I have to code it, which isn’t easy as it could seem. But, luckily, I still have the images files, so I won’t have to go in Photoshop to make new ones that would have look like the original ones.

So I’m kind of eager to see that style, which has bring this site to its previous level of popularity. I noticed that the number of my visitors has decreased and so I’m trying to bring back the old-days visitors, with the old-days style ;) Hopefully, I found, in a forgotten folder of my computer, a screenshot of the old version.

New Wallpapers layout

I redesigned the Wallpapers section to make it more friendly. Each wallpaper has now a little comment to go with it!

Also, mircscripts.org got redesigned with CSS only. I wish I’d do it but someone did it before me.

. » Re-coded mircscripts.org

Finally, I got an email telling me that *my* IRC Client using vb6 was giving errors when compiling. So firstly, I got to remind you that Pie is not mine. It was made by Matthew Malensek. Also, I don’t think Pie is supported for bug reports or compiling errors. So wait until it will be released by pogz as an official program.

Rainy night…

That was a great night yesterday. If it wasn’t of the damn rain we had during 2 hours…

We went out to a kind of “System of a Down tribute” show. Outside. It started to rain and we thought it won’t last quite long. But it did. We got back to the car, running under the rainy sky.

Question: Have you ever entered in a McDonald’s with all wet clothes? That was my first time yesterday. Everyone was looking at us quite surprised because it didn’t rain in the city where the McDonald’s was.

Advice of day: Don’t trust weather channels on TV.

Network Management on mircscripts.org

I’m very happy because I’m not working this afternoon! Well… the true reason why I’m happy is that my Network Management addon has been finally reviewed on mircscripts.org, the best site for mIRC addons and full scripts.

I may submit F-Keys as well…

» Netman on mircscripts.org

And by the way, I made an RSS feed for the daily picks.
