I gave up

… when upgrading to WordPress 1.5. They say it’s cool. They say it’s better. But it’s damn hard to install from 1.2, when you have a lot of custom code you don’t want to lose. If I didn’t want to all that trouble, I should have convert my “hacks” to plugins. Now they could be still usable.

The trouble? All that new “themes” system. I know it’s better that way. But porting a “template” into a “theme” isn’t that easy as they say there.

I gave up. 1.3-beta1 for life.

Hrm I upgraded to WP 1.5 from 1.3 alpha 4 and it was effortless. Of course it’s mostly because 1.3 a4 already uses the theme system so my design was already converted and stuff. Anyways I just want to say you should try to upgrade, 1.5 is well worth it.

The thing is, I know 1.5 is great. But I’ve already modified maybe the half of WP 1.5-beta1 core files. All my stuff is adapted to those mods. If I upgrade, I’ll have to modifiy them again.

Did I say that I’m fully satisfied with 1.5-beta1?

Oh I guess you have a point when you’ve modified all the core files, me I deleted the WP-layout.css file that came with the package and made an entire new one so that wasn’t too hard to change.

But I don’t get it which core files within WP did you change? I’ve been using wordpress for almost a year now and I havn’t found a reason to modify any of those files.
