Local computer technician
Are you like me? If someone in your family or in your friends has a problem with his computer (virus, worm, devices that are not working), you are the one who has to fix it. Because you are the local geek, the local computer technician.
I am… But I’m not complaining about it; it’s cool to make those people happy, because they know nothing about computers.
And you leave their house by saying — Never accept .exe, .pif, .bat or .scr files from MSN Messenger…

There are 6 comments yet. Don't be shy.
I always leave saying - .
But yeah, what you said. It’s nice to help others, especially when they look at you like you’d be some kind of a computer guru, but you only know the very basics on the topics you help them in.
I’m that guy as well :) And it’s fun doing that job, when you have the time.
I usually leave with saying: “Don’t click “Yes” on every button that appears on your display when you are connected to the internet”.
Yes Rem, i’m living that too often.
My grand-father have problem each week with his computer, sound is desactivated, configuration has changed, he doesn’t remember how to do something simple, etc. And, last week, I thaught him how to use his webcam and his microphone on MSN… I’m waiting for a question about that soon.
But anyway, that is crazy, he never has the same problem. How is he able to do that? He’s just playing games on the web, listening to the Tv on his computer, editing pictures, chatting on MSN…
This is crazy for me too. :)
I went at my aunt’s house today for Easter, and I fixed her computer. I love those family reunions! :P
Definately, this week-end I’ll go format my GF computer cause she never used an anti-virus and she has like 60 system files infected… can’t even access her Control Pannel, would you believe that? Accessing it crashes explorer.exe !!
Going back to work.
Yes! I clean out about 5 computers (that are not mine) every few weeks. It’s crazy… I even have a t-shirt that says “No, I will not fix your computer.”
