Undoing in Final Cut Express

Have you ever tried Apple’s Finalcut Express? The software itself is quite amazing. But when it comes to undoing (Edit -> Undo), that’s where the trouble begins.

The CMD + Z shortcut is not associated to Undo!!! It is not!!!

Instead, the shortcut for Undo is CMD + W… And guess what, CMD + Z is for closing the active window. Now I’m asking:

Why the hell are those shortcut associated to their normal command? Z for undoing, and W for closing active window!

But apart from that, this is an excellent software.

Closing? Great, don’t tell me you accidently closed the window? I think I hit ctrl+z too many times to get used to such a change… Well, guess that means no Apple for me ;)

It’s Command + Z, not CTRL + Z ;-)

It’s associtated to the AZERTY keyboard (in Europe), where the “Z” takes the place of the “W”. Consequently, select all is CMD + Q !

Maybe nobody could tell why…

…Command, Ctrl, whatever, sounds the same.

…Well, not really, but you get the idea :P

Yeah, that owns me all the time. Maybe C* + Z is a Unix thing for “Kill”.
